Hartwell Dam and Annual Dam Run

Lake HartwellHartwell Dam, constructed across the Savannah River by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, impounds 55,950 acre Hartwell Lake, one of th three most visited Corps lakes in the nation. The Dam offers free tours - June thru Labor Day.
During spring, summer and fall, Hartwell Lake is an exciting place to sail, jet ski, canoe and water ski. In the quiet coves, fisherman angle for striped bass, crappie and catfish.
Although many boaters use the lake year round, the season opens officially with the Blessing of the Fleet in May and continues into fall.
Camping buffs will be pleased with accommodations at the Hart State park as well as at recreation areas maintained by the Corps. Picnickers as well will enjoy the scenic sites offered for family outings, The sites are particularly suited to swimming, jogging, bicycling and nature exploration. In addition, public boat ramps make for easy access to the lake for those who bring their own water vehicles.

Annual Dam Run

Hartwell Dam Run Each May the Lake Hartwell Dam run features a 5K, 10K and one mile Fun Run. the challenge of the Centuries Bicycle Ride later in the month offers a choice of two courses.
